As a second-generation educator, Keith saw first-hand how the rapport between
teacher and student can make a tremendous difference in someone’s life.
However, his own journey to the classroom took an unconventional route. Prior
to teaching, he attended Oakwood (College) University where he obtained a
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Counseling. Thereafter, he
spent 10 years fulfilling roles within the field of behavioral health from group
homes for teenaged boys, a treatment facility for teens, to conducting group
sessions for at risk high school students. In 2009, Keith was accepted into a
program that simultaneously enabled him to teach full time in the Nashville public
school system while earning a Master’s degree from Belmont University. The
combination of these experiences and a K-6 certification in two states has
qualified Mr. Johnston to incorporate a blended perspective in the classroom. He
is able to relate to his students in unique and uplifting ways that produce results
both academically and personally.
Keith is the husband of Lola Moore Johnston, Senior Pastor in the Seventh-day
Adventist denomination and founder of The Bloom Movement. He is also Daddy
to two teenagers, Caleb and Ava. He maintains a love and unwavering
commitment to his family with an understanding that there is something to learn
from one another every day.
